Life without emotions....

Life without emotions... it sounds strange, almost robotic, doesn’t it? Emotions are something we experience every single day — they shape our reactions, our thoughts, our memories.
According to psychologists, humans have five basic emotions: joy, anger, fear, disgust, and sadness. That's what sir Paul Ekman says but for me, emotions are much more than that. In a world increasingly run by machines and artificial intelligence, it is these raw, messy, beautiful emotions that truly make us human. It is the beautiful Chaos that remind us the beauty of life. They are like a divine gift — something we’re all blessed with and should cherish deeply. And I don’t just mean the positive ones. Even the so-called “negative” emotions like anger, guilt, and sadness have their own importance. Life without emotions would be like a blank canvas with no paint — technically complete, but empty, dull, and lifeless.
Imagine waking up one morning and not feeling that tiny spark of hope, the weight of dreams pushing you forward, or the simple joy of witnessing a new sunrise. You rise from bed with no smile on your face, mechanically dressing up, not because you feel like it, but just out of habit. The smell of brewing coffee doesn’t excite you, nor does the quiet stillness of the morning comfort you. You leave for work right on time, not because you care to, but because logic tells you to. You catch the train, get a seat, but feel no satisfaction. Even when someone pushes you, there’s no annoyance — just silence. At the office, you sit at your desk like always, your fingers moving rhythmically on the keyboard, your eyes glued to the screen. There is no excitement, no pressure, no boredom — just a routine that repeats every day until, one day, your soul simply gives up. That’s what life would look like without emotions.
A world with no care, no love, no empathy. No warmth in a mother’s hug, no laughter at silly jokes, no pride in your father’s praise or annoyance at your sibling’s teasing. There would be no joy in healing, no pain in loss, no anger at injustice, no butterflies when you see someone special. There would be a heart that beats, but not one that breaks or heals. A stomach that digests, but not one that flips in nervousness or flutters in love. Life would become a perfectly calculated cycle — no chaos, no mistakes, and no surprises. But isn’t it our chaos that defines us? Don’t our mistakes shape who we are, followed by the guilt that teaches us lessons and the determination that pushes us to do better? By God’s grace, this emotionless life is just a thought — a scary imagination. Because in reality, emotions are what colour our lives and make them worth living.
